Top 5 Halloween Movies
Graphic from The Nerdy Girlie
It’s time for another 5 Fandom Friday topic from Super Space Chick and The Nerdy Girlie. Today’s topic is Top 5 Halloween Movies. Now, personally, I hate scary movies!! There’s not one that I’ve seen that I actually enjoyed. A friend of mine is always begging me to see the latest scary movie with him and about every 2 years I indulge him. And I always regret it afterwards. I don’t really understand why people like to be scared. I’d rather be laughing. But that’s just me. That being said, I LOVE Halloween! I love to dress up and I love to watch non-scary Halloween movies. So here’s my list of non-scary Halloween movies for those of you out there who are like me and don’t really like to experience fear and terror!!
1. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
This is an obvious first choice! It’s fun and funny and filled with nostalgia. If you’ve never seen this movie, then I worry about your childhood. Was it a happy time for you? Go watch it and make up for lost times!! Seriously. Don’t spend another day having not seen this movie! It’s great for all the kids out there and for the adults who still act like kids!
2. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Truth be told, any of the Harry Potter movies are wonderful to watch on Halloween. But out of all of them, Azkaban is the most Halloweeney of the bunch. Could be director, Alfonso Cuaron’s unique take on the franchise. The talking shrunken heads, the “Something wicked this way comes” song. It’s a perfect choice for Halloween.
3. Nightmare Before Christmas
What’s great about this one is that chances are pretty good that your mind is already starting to drift towards the Christmas season. It’s inevitable and seems to start a little earlier every year. Nightmare brilliantly melds Halloween and Christmas, making it the perfect holiday gateway movie! Also, it’s safe to say that Tim Burton could be named King of Halloween and no one would object!
4. Casper
Ok, so he’s not the spookiest ghost out there, but he’s probably the cutest! And when I was 13 years old and first saw this movie, I immediately loved it. The presence of teen heart-throb, Devon Sawa didn’t hurt matters! That scene when he walks down the stairs after becoming human, looking all dashing with his blond 90’s bowl cut… be still my heart!!
5. Zombieland
Last, but not least. It would be wrong not to have a zombie flick on the list. Zombieland has all the blood, guts and hard hitting double taps you could ever want. But it’s also hilarious! Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg and Abigail Breslin make the perfect quartet of zombie killing bad asses!
What will you be watching this Halloween? Let me know in the comments below. And check back next week for another 5 Fandom Friday topic!
