This past Saturday I attended Geek Girl Brunch, a monthly gathering of lady nerds who love mimosas and all things geeky. What an amazing experience to find like-minded lady nerds in a city of millions.
I was one of the last nerds through the door (because I went to the wrong location first) and as soon as I walked into Playwright’s Irish Pub, I knew I was in the right place. This month’s theme was DC comics and the tell-tale Batman hats and Harley Quinn t-shirts had me feeling right at home.
I ended up at a table with 3 other women and I don’t think it could have been a more perfect match if we’d actually tried for it. Melissa, Lauryn, Dani and I had a blast!! We waxed poetic about Power Rangers, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Marvel Cinematic and of course DC Comics! We all even ended up ordering the same meal, steak and eggs. It was such a great afternoon of fun and female bonding.
Thank you to everyone over at Geek Girl Brunch for putting it together and to Forbidden Planet, DC Comics and Warner Brothers for the amazing swag! And to Playwright’s Irish Pub for hosting such a great event! Can’t wait for next month’s brunch.
