30 Days of Nerdy Hair – Day 15

Day 15: Kimmy Gibbler from Full House

A couple months ago, the news broke that Netflix and John Stamos were working on a Full House spin off, Fuller House. Not only will Candace Cameron Bure’s, DJ Tanner be coming back to the small screen,  but her sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and of course, DJ’s best fried, the one and only Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barbara) will return as well. (Is anyone else as excited for this show as I am??)

The key to Kimmy Gibbler hair is stacked scrunchies and volume. If you have curly hair, let it run free. If you have straighter hair, tease that sucker till it stands on it’s own. Then stack those scrunchies on top of your head and bam… you are officially rocking the Kimmy Gibbler.

5 Favorite Fictional Fathers

I have been derelict in my 5 Fandom Friday posts as of late. This nerd has a lot going on these days. But that is no excuse for lazy blogging. So I’m jumping back in with my 5 Favorite Fictional Fathers.

Thanks to The Nerdy Girlie and Super Space Chick for this topic! And for anyone who was wondering if Father’s Day was this weekend or last weekend, it’s not. It’s next weekend. (I definitely got that one wrong last Sunday when I posted a Happy Father’s Day message for my dad, only to find out I was 2 weeks early.) But really… shouldn’t every day be Father’s Day?

Here we go…

#1 – Danny Tanner from Full House

For me, no one (except my own father) can beat the parenting of Danny Tanner. Morally upright. Comforting, caring, always trying to make DJ, Stephanie and Michelle the best people they could be. And look at this dad sweater. No one can rock a dad sweater like Danny Tanner!!! Classic.

#2 – Carl Winslow from Family Matters

Coming in at a very close second is Carl Winslow. The wonderful thing about Carl was that not only did he parent his own children, but he quickly became a father figure for a certain nerdy neighbor. He does get a few points taken away for the mysterious disappearance of the youngest daughter, Judy. But he was still a stellar TV dad.

#3 – Alan Matthews from Boy Meets World

Any teen of the 90’s will put this man on their list. Alan Matthews from Boy Meets World. This is one stellar father! He also raised his own children while becoming a surrogate parent for the one and only Shawn Hunter. And in season 6 when Chet Hunter, Shawn and his half-brother, Jack’s father, dies, it’s Alan Matthews that tells Shawn that he’s always been apart of the Matthews family and that they may as well adopt him. Every time I watch that episode, I cry!

#4 – Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

We know him best as Will’s Uncle Phil. But this is another example of surrogate parenting. When Vivian’s sister sent Will to live in Bel-Air with the Banks family, she made the right choice for his future. Uncle Phil took him in and treated him as if he was one of his own children. He provided structure and discipline and love like the great father that he is!

#5 – Uncle Jesse from Full House

Uncle Jesse is by far the hottest dad on the list. When we first met Jesse, he was the beloved uncle to Michelle, DJ and Stephanie, co-parenting along with Danny and Joey. But later in the show, Jesse got married and had some kids of his own. Even so, he still remained the hot, rockstar that we met at the beginning. And he never left our hearts!!!

Big shout-out to my own dad who exhibits all of the qualities these 5 men exhibit and so much more!! Taking in children who need father figures, check. Teaching about lofty morals and strong character, check. Life lessons at the drop of the hat, double check!!

Day 16: DJ Tanner from Full House

This one is gonna take you back, especially if you are a teen of the 90’s like me. Scrunchies, teased bangs. It was all there!
And DJ Tanner was one of the fashion front runners for such trends.

I don’t have short bangs so I teased what I have. Then I threw half up in a scrunchie!!! Well 2 scrunchies. I was big on layering my scrunchies in the 80’s and 90’s.
