30 Days of Nerdy Hair – Day 24

Day 24: Young Elsa from Disney’s Frozen

Disney characters always have great hair!! And not only the older ones, but the kiddos as well. So today I picked young Elsa. Just starting to learn about her magic and when she freely used it with no thought of the dangers. Little Elsa lives life with very little fear.

image

This one is super easy to accomplish. You need a black headband and a nice braid in the back. And it’s an easy everyday style that doesn’t scream Disney princess. (Although personally, I love when my hair screams Disney princess. It’s so much fun!!)

“The cold never bothered me anyway.”

30 Days of Nerdy Hair – Day 4

Day 4: Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City

With only weeks left in New York City (24 days to be exact) I thought I’d pick someone who most represents NYC in my mind. Carrie Bradshaw herself!

image

My hair may be naturally curly, but I have to roll it in tight knots the night before to get Bradshaw level curls.

image

My hair couldn’t help but wonder…”When will waiting for the one be done?

30 Days of Nerdy Hair

Day 23: Vivian Ward from Pretty Woman

Today’s hair comes from one of my favorite romantic comedies of all time, Pretty Woman, starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. This hair appears in the scene where schmillionaire, Gere takes schmrostitute, Roberts to the opera. She wears a classy french twist in an attempt to fit into his fancy pretentious world.

image

Personally I’ve never been a fan of the french twist. It does tend to be a more pretentious hairdo. What I love about this one is that Vivian still manages to keep it fun with the curly bangs. It’s what makes this hairstyle classy and fun instead of stuffy and boring!! Always put a twist on your french twist!

7 days left, friends. Here we go!

Day 6: Yvaine from Stardust

If you’ve never seen the movie Stardust, then you are missing out on a  cinematic treat. This movie based on the novel by Neil Gaiman, is funny, romantic and action packed. It’s as close to a modern day Princess Bride as any movie could possibly get. And since it was recently added on Netflix, I have been re-watching it lately.  So I encourage you not only to go pick up the book because… reading is cool, but to also watch the movie because…movies are cool too!

image

Here is my attempt at recreating this look. You can’t help but feel like a shining star with this hair. My co-worker said it looked like the perfect wedding hair. Love it and I’ll remember that if I ever need such a thing.

Day 3: Ali from Burlesque

Happy Monday, nerds!

Today I’ve gone with Christina Aguilera’s character in Burlesque. This is by no means a must see movie, but if you like musicals and and Christina, then I think you could find enjoyment in it. Plus… Cam Gigandet never hurts a movie with his presence!!

image

This style presented a few challenges this morning. Mainly, my hair is not long anymore. So this is the short hair version of this style. But it works and is really fun to wear out and about!

Make sure to stay tuned for tomorrow’s style! And head over to You Tube for all the videos and mini tutorials.

And will be using it to make little mini step by step tutorials on Instagram. So make sure to check over there for the vids. If you wanna take this challenge with me in any way (everyday or once in a while or maybe you have your own spin) then I encourage you to #nerdinthecity on all social media and make sure to send me the pics! I’d love to have you along for the ride!

Without further ado. Here it is:

Day 1: Josie from Josie and the Pussycats!

image

A quintessentially, terrible high school movie that I absolutely loved when it came out in 2001. I was a high school senior and all I wanted to do was go join a chick rock band! This movie starring Rachel Leigh Cook as Josie along with band mates, Tara Reid and Rosario Dawson, went a long way to helping me believe I could be a funky rock star if I wanted. (Clearly that message got me far in life!) Fun Fact: These ears are official Josie and the Pussycats merchandise from back when this movie debuted. Definitely bought them and kept them all this time. I guess I always knew one day I’d grow up to be Josie! Ah… dreams.

Regardless of whether or not it deserves a vote at the Worst Movie of the Year awards or not, it was fun. And personally that’s all a girl like me really wants, is to have a little fun!

Day 23: Sayuri from Memoirs of a Geisha

Today was a bit of a lazy Sunday afternoon so I chose Sayuri from Memoirs of a Geisha.

To create this look, you need a top knot and a red ribbon.

Day 4: Lady Edith from Downton Abbey

Poor Lady Edith. She may be the jilted, wallflower of the Crawley family, but the girl has good hair. As we in America eagerly await season 4, I chose to spotlight Lady Edith today.

image

My hair has grown out quite a bit since I first cut it.  So in order to get closer to the length of Lady Edith’s hair I had to pin up my ends, creating more of a chin length curly bob.
