Day 28: JEM from JEM and the Holograms
Out of all the characters I’ve chosen to cosplay this month, JEM is the one who is nearest and dearest to my heart. I used to watch the cartoon when I was a kid and dream of the day I could have pink hair and be a rock star!

Day 4: Marge Simpson from The Simpsons
Truth time, dear readers. This one was not done in the early hours of this beautiful Sunday morning. I did this one yesterday, knowing that having towering blue hair was probably not the best move for my Sunday schedule. First of all, I used a temporary blue hair spray. Which, while really fun to wear, is the kind of thing that would end up dripping rivers of blue once the Florida humidity hit. So I opted for a preemptive blue attack to the hair follicles.
What I learned is that I LOVE blue hair!! It’s so much fun. There’s actually still a little left in there today, if you look close enough. And I think when this series is over and I get a much needed haircut and color (goodbye roots!) I think I might make a blue a permanent addition to my hair! Thanks for the inspiration, Marge!!
Day 2: Judy Jetson from The Jetsons
Had a small glitch with the white hair spray and the white hair chalk. Turns out the hair spray I got was just silver glitter, so while you can’t see it in the picture or the video, I am completely covered in sparkles. Which I don’t consider a particularly bad thing! 😉
Last night I watched Pixar’s Inside Out for the first time.
I know…shock, gasp, what? A self-proclaimed Disney lover such as myself? Here’s the thing, I always knew I’d love it. I just also knew I’d cry. It’s Pixar for pete’s sake. If you didn’t cry in Toy Story 3, Wall-E, Up or Inside Out then you basically have no soul. I mean, the trailer for The Good Dinosaur.. have you watched it? That thing is definitely going to require tissues. At this point they should just hand out boxes with your ticket purchase.
I don’t enjoy crying, so I didn’t see it in the theaters. There’s no logic behind it. Just my 5 emotions doing their thing.
Anyways I’ve made a list of my personality islands. Things that are inherently me. Trust me, there are plenty other personalities in there. But these are the big ones. And they are each pretty self explanatory. No need for lengthy descriptions. Just a few well placed emojis! Here we go…
-Girl’s Night Island
Ok this one’s not really one of them. 😉
What are your personality islands? (Joy wants to know!)
5 Characters I Want to Dress Up as for Halloween
I always have a hard time deciding what to be for Halloween every year. Mainly because there are so many beautiful and fun options! And while I usually a pretty decisive decision maker, at Halloween time I tend to waffle, because I want to be all the things!
This year I’ve managed to make my decision for my Halloween costume. I’m while not ready to reveal which on I’ve chosen. These are the options I chose from and if you have a guess, go ahead and comment below!
#1: Harley Quinn
Harley is my favorite character in the DC Universe and my favorite villain in all the comic verses. I actually cosplayed Harley at Christmas with my family last year. But there’s a new Harley coming our way in Suicide Squad next year (though I prefer the classic Batman: the animated series version of Harley) and I love the chance to dress as the Joker’s crazy lady love. So she always makes the short list!
#2: Jerrica Benton aka JEM
Yep, I always dreamed of being a rockstar. And being a child of the 80’s, there are few role models as pink, sparkly and fierce as Jerrica Benton aka JEM and her Holograms, Aja, Kimber, Shana and Raya. So I always look forward to cosplaying this music mogul. Plus I’ve done her hair for 30 Days Of Nerdy Hair, so I know I can pull it off. Very strong option.
#3: Topanga Lawrence
I’m currently knee deep in the Disney Channel spin off of the beloved 90’s sitcom, Boy Meets World…Girl Meets World. It’s Topanga and Corey’s kids who are now learning about the world (and it’s truly delightful) but original Topanga will always be a favorite. And I’ve never dresses up as her before. Strong contender.
#4: Kimberly aka Pink Ranger
Every child of the 90’s should feel me on this one. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were the be all and end all of crime fighting teenagers in the 90’s. Plus Tommy…aka Green Ranger, then White Ranger…Hubba hubba.
#5: Princess Leia Organa
Princess Leia is always and I mean always on my list!! She is the sassiest and bad assiest of Princesses and she has so many great looks to choose from. I dressed up as Leia for Halloween when I was a kid and I’ve done plenty of her hairstyles for 30 Days of Nerdy Hair, but I’ve actually never cosplayed Princess Leia as an adult. So she is absolutely a major contender
this year make that every year!
