5 Characters I Want to Dress Up as for Halloween

I always have a hard time deciding what to be for Halloween every year. Mainly because there are so many beautiful and fun options! And while I usually a pretty decisive decision maker, at Halloween time I tend to waffle, because I want to be all the things!
This year I’ve managed to make my decision for my Halloween costume. I’m while not ready to reveal which on I’ve chosen. These are the options I chose from and if you have a guess, go ahead and comment below!

#1: Harley Quinn
image
Harley is my favorite character in the DC Universe and my favorite villain in all the comic verses. I actually cosplayed Harley at Christmas with my family last year. But there’s a new Harley coming our way in Suicide Squad next year (though I prefer the classic Batman: the animated series version of Harley) and I love the chance to dress as the Joker’s crazy lady love. So she always makes the short list!

#2: Jerrica Benton aka JEM
image
Yep, I always dreamed of being a rockstar. And being a child of the 80’s, there are few role models as pink, sparkly and fierce as Jerrica Benton aka JEM and her Holograms, Aja, Kimber, Shana and Raya. So I always look forward to cosplaying this music mogul. Plus I’ve done her hair for 30 Days Of Nerdy Hair, so I know I can pull it off. Very strong option.

#3: Topanga Lawrence
image
I’m currently knee deep in the Disney Channel spin off of the beloved 90’s sitcom, Boy Meets World…Girl Meets World. It’s Topanga and Corey’s kids who are now learning about the world (and it’s truly delightful) but original Topanga will always be a favorite. And I’ve never dresses up as her before. Strong contender.

#4: Kimberly aka Pink Ranger
image
Every child of the 90’s should feel me on this one. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were the be all and end all of crime fighting teenagers in the 90’s. Plus Tommy…aka Green Ranger, then White Ranger…Hubba hubba.

#5: Princess Leia Organa
image
Princess Leia is always and I mean always on my list!! She is the sassiest and bad assiest of Princesses and she has so many great looks to choose from. I dressed up as Leia for Halloween when I was a kid and I’ve done plenty of her hairstyles for 30 Days of Nerdy Hair, but I’ve actually never cosplayed Princess Leia as an adult. So she is absolutely a major contender this year make that every year!

30 Days of Nerdy Hair – Day 3

Day 3: Gem from Tron: Legacy

I’ll be honest. Tron wasn’t one of those things I grew up watching and loving. Back in the 80’s, if my parents didn’t watch it and introduce me to it then I never saw it. And when I got older I just forgot about it. But I did see Tron: Legacy when it came out in 2010 and I know it was no classic Tron and Disney clearly decided Tron 3 wasn’t worth pursuing, but I really liked it. And this style is dedicated to my science fiction pal at work who LOVES Tron!!

The key to the Siren, Gem is a really slicked back top knot. Now my hair is super curly by nature, so I can’t get it to play this game quite as well as Beau Garrett can in the picture above. But there are ways around that. Like Tron inspired makeup to keep the spirit alive!!

As a special, Happy New Year I have also uploaded some Bloopers for you to enjoy! On a filming day, we usually shoot between 7-10 episodes. Which is a lot of script to memorize! And guess what… I mess it up all the time. I think the most takes I had for one episode was 15. Speaking sometimes isn’t my strong suit! 😉 I hope you enjoy my many flubs!

Halloween Make-Up

Option #5: Cleopatra

Here is the final Halloween Make-Up experiment. I chose Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile. Though I didn’t use any existing Cleopatras as examples.
I incorporated the Eye of Ra heiroglyphic.

image

For this I used a blue eye shadow from Sephora and a dark Kohl pencil for the eyes. Then finished with a bright red lip. Purely interpretive.

Halloween Make-Up

Option #4: Circus Performer

Today’s make-up trial is inspired by the circus. Perhaps a trapeze artist or a modest (adorable) clown.

Halloween Make-Up

Option #2: JEM!

As a child of the 80’s, I have a very deep and abiding love for all things bright, neon and garish!

So today I chose Jem.
Because let’s face it…
“Jem is excitment.
Jem is adventure.
Glamour and glitter,
Fashion and fame.
Jem is truly outrageous.
Truly, truly, truly
outrageous!”

image

I used a simple loose powder shadow in bright pink to create this look. And finished it with a glossy lip color is watermelon from NYC.

(How fun is my new camera ap!!)

Halloween Make-up

Option #1: Jadzia Dax

Halloween is approaching and it is time to start buckling down on viable costume options. I l-l-love Halloween!!! I love candy and dressing up and all things Halloweenie!!

I’ve decided to experiment with my make-up and recreate a few looks that I think would make awesome Halloween costumes.

First up is Jadzia Dax from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

image

Dax is a Trill, a symbiotic species. While the Trill host, Jadzia, may be a female, the symbiont, Dax, has lived many life cycles as both a male and a female.
Trills are visibly defined by the markings along the sides of their bodies from head to toe.

I used a simple brown eye liner from NYC to create the tell-tale Trill spots.

Here’s how they came out:
