Day 25: Joanna Eberhart from The Stepford Wives
Being a Stepford wife means nothing out of place. It means perfection, or at least seeming perfection.
I may not be perfect, but this hair rocks!!!! And what’s great about the “Stepford” hair is that you can definitely wear it all day to any event.
Day 24: Young Elsa from Disney’s Frozen
Disney characters always have great hair!! And not only the older ones, but the kiddos as well. So today I picked young Elsa. Just starting to learn about her magic and when she freely used it with no thought of the dangers. Little Elsa lives life with very little fear.
This one is super easy to accomplish. You need a black headband and a nice braid in the back. And it’s an easy everyday style that doesn’t scream Disney princess. (Although personally, I love when my hair screams Disney princess. It’s so much fun!!)
“The cold never bothered me anyway.”
Day 23: Ragnar Lothbrok from Vikings
I just started Vikings so I’m not too far into it yet, only episode 3, but I’m already crushing on Ragnar Lothbrok. The mighty viking who chose correctly when he married Lagertha!! They are one seriously awesome couple, at least by episode 3!!!
I opted not to shave my head and get tattoos, but still. I felt very bad ass with this style!!!
When the time comes, you must lead with your hair, not with your heart.
Day 22: Susan Pevensie from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
The Chronicles of Narnia was one of my favorite book series when I was growing, and has remained so. The story of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie: the everyday British children that would become the kings and queens of the mythical, far off land of Narnia. It was such a magical story. And I still check the closets to see if I can find that magical land. (I haven’t yet, but hope is still alive!)
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was the 2nd book in the series, but the first movie that was made. And it was such a beautiful adaptation. Sadly the series wouldn’t make it past The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Which is a real shame because the stories, written by Clive Staples Lewis are richly and beautifully written.
Aslan bestows the title of Queen Susan, the brave upon plain ole Susan Pevensie when she is crowned a queen of Narnia. Don’t worry, if you don’t have a spare crown lying around, like I do, you can easily just substitute it for a sparkly headband of some kind.
“Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen of Narnia!”
Day 21 – Cher from Clueless
Clueless is one of those quintessential movies from the 90’s that defined a generation of teenagers. This modern adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma, is both adorable and funny. Alicia Silverstone’s character, Cher manages to be both ditzy and intensely caring at the same time (when she wants to be.) When she falls totally, butt-crazy in love with her ex-step-brother, Josh… she not only ends up winning his heart, but she wins ours as well!!
I just got a hair cut and color, so I am completely ready to rock this California princess look!
Day 19: Poison Ivy from Batman + Robin
There’s no denying that Batman + Robin is quite possibly one of the worst films ever. And definitely the worst film to ever have the name Batman in the title. No one is disputing that!! What I will say is that Uma Thurman’s, Poison Ivy, is a shining star among a pile of Bantha Poodoo!
She is villainous and sexy and does complete justice to the character of Poison Ivy. Now, imagine her Ivy, Michelle Pfieffer’s Catwoman and someone as Harley Quinn teaming up together to try and take on the Bat.
That’s a movie I wanna see!!!
This is a fun one, but not really practical for everyday wear. Unless you are a saucy villain with an agenda. Then it makes a lot of sense!!
“Polly wanna kiss?”

Day 18: Princess Leia from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
Today marks exactly 6 months till we are able to feast our eyes on the brand new edition to the Star Wars Universe, The Force Awakens. In honor of the countdown I chose to do Princes Leia hair today.
On the forest moon of Endor, the Rebel Alliance makes a stand against the Empire. Princess Leia, leader, senator, bad ass lady… always has a killer braided hairdo for any occasion and in Return of the Jedi, she does not disappoint. What’s great about this style is that it’s versatile. She has the majority of her hair braided on top of her head and the rest is rolled into small buns in the back so they can easily be taken down later for a softer look. But if you have to run through the forest and fight the forces of darkness, then this hair is for you!
You can’t go wrong with a well executed braid!! And I know it’s gonna last all day. And since Star Wars is my favorite and incidentally, the best movies ever, wearing this around all day is my great honor!!
May the hair be with you!!
Don’t miss the rest of the series (12 days to do) and also check out other events happening with Nerd in the City, like our #NerdySlumberParty
There will be giveaways and great conversation. Bring your friends because all are welcome at this party!!
Day 17 – Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie
Out of all the classic 50’s and 60’s TV shows, I think I Dream of Jeannie is probably my favorite one. Sure, it wasn’t exactly a tale of women’s liberation. But Barbara Eden as Jeannie was delightful and her never ending efforts to end up with Major Nelson made for very funny television. Plus she was pushing the fashion envelope at the time with her harem pants and crop top! Gotta love a genie with good fashion sense!
I won’t be saying “Yes, Master” all day, but I will try to grant as many wishes as are within my power! Making people happy sounds like fun! (within reason… don’t get fresh!)
Your wish is my command!
Day 16: Padme Amidala from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
I was going to save this one for Thursday, the 18th, which will mark that we only have 6 months till Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens opens in theaters. But today I woke up with great Padme hair texture, so I had to bump it up a couple days. Padme Amidala starts off in Episode 1 as the queen of Naboo. Her hair is very strategic and massive. It’s part of her costume and her persona as queen. It’s meant to intimidate. By Episode III she has softened her hairstyles, rocking curls and waves. The hair becomes far less intimidating and much more feminine. Representing a change, not only in her political status (she is no longer queen of Naboo in Ep. III) but also in her personal life. She is married and pregnant, about to give birth to her and Anakin’s child. This is a much different Padme and her hair is a reflection of that. Hair can tell you a lot of things about a person!!
I used a clip in place of her headpiece and just let the curls cascade down. I also added a coral lip gloss like she’s wearing in the above picture. Now all I need is a flowy, Naboo nightgown and a very angry, confused Jedi husband and my journey to Padme cosplay will be complete.
Is anyone else so freaking ready for The Force Awakens??? Is it December yet???
